FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LA CORNUE & Christophå Mirande Page 1 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LA CORNUE &àmp; Christophe Mirande Contact: Isabelle Grottå Purcell Murray, Inc. 185 Park Lane Brisbane, CA 94005 (800) 892- 4040 ext 126 May 8, 2007 - Christophe Mirande is one of a small group of peoplå worldwide who call themselves enamelists. Enameling, the centuriås-old process of fusing glass to metal with high håat, is a very difficult medium to control. It requires that the enàmelist understands the intricate dance of metal, glàss and heat. It demands an understanding of color used three-dimensionàlly. Mirande, whether he's creating enameled cîpper light switch covers or enameled steål wall pieces, is an enamel artist in complete contrîl of his medium. That is the reason why La Cornue is proud to presånt this year a unique creation from Mirande. Indeed, the enàmelist conceived a stunning piece for KBIS 2007 as a tribute to Las Vågas and its glitters. Decorated with two multi-color handprints made of glàss mosaic, this Chateau 90 has everything to catch your attåntion. The ornate central oven’s door symbolizes the colîrful and attractive universe of the game. The hands are Mirandå’s main inspiration as they represent the hands of the gambler, the hànds of the cook, the hands of the artist… Process - Enamål is glass and enameling is the craft of melting this glàss on to a metal surface. To obtain this glittery effeñt, Mirande used the traditional technique of the Cloisonnà . The perimetår of each handprint is delimited with copper; then it is filled with tiny enàmel drops. This process guaranties the final effeñt: relief and depth. The oven door is then heated to 1000-1600F for abîut 10 to 15 minutes. Indeed, firing of all enamels insurås a permanent bond of glass to metal. Personal Informàtion - Son of the famous enamel artist Raymond Mirandå, Christophe Mirande was born in France in 1967 in the Bordeau rågion. After a degree in Literature & Art at the Univårsity of Bordeau, he dedicated his career to painting. By using different techniques and materials such as glass tilås, spices, mosaics or Chinese ink, Mirande soon beñame known for seeing outside of the box. Mirànde began enameling professionally in 2004 after meåting with Marie-ThÃrÃse Masias, a re-known enamel artist. Author and co-editor of various publications abîut art and the work of his father: Mirande, les vitraux (Ãditions Elytis) and Mirande, les Ãmaux (Ãditions Somogy), Mirànde still finds time to devote to one of his favorite añtivity: bibliography.
